Kris was born in Comox on Vancouver Island but raised in the Tri-Cities where he competed in a number of sports including volleyball, soccer, basketball, hockey, baseball and swimming. He eventually narrowed his focus to beach and indoor volleyball. This led him to representing Canada at the 19U Beach Volleyball World Championships in Portugal, and obtaining an athletic scholarship to play indoor volleyball at UBC Okanagan while completing his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology. Kris retired from varsity volleyball mid-way through his degree and transferred over to UBC to finish the remainder of his Bachelor in Kinesiology.
Through his degree, Kris cultivated an immense interest in the biomechanics of human movement as well as a passion for coaching. From that, a desire emerged to help others achieve their rehabilitation and training goals.
